The @media conference returns in 2006 after an incredibly successful conference in 2005.

This time there are more presentations and panels, spread across two tracks, and more speakers, including Eric Meyer, Dan Cederholm, Dave Shea, Andy Clarke, Jon Hicks, Molly Holzschlag, Tantek Çelik, Jeremy Keith, Andy Budd, Roger Johansson, Veerle Pieters, Cameron Moll, Stuart Langridge, Simon Willison, Ian Lloyd, PPK, Patrick Griffiths, Gez Lemon, Patrick Lauke and Robin Christopherson. That’ll do for now, won’t it? More to be announced soon…

To be held at the prestigious QEII conference centre in middle of Westminster, London, this time around @media promises to be an even more lavish affair.

[...]

@media, Europe's foremost professional web design conference, brings together some of the world's most highly respected web experts to talk about the latest major happenings, best-practice thinking, and cutting-edge techniques in the world of web design.

The presentations and panels will tackle a multitude of aspects of web design, covering topics such as user-interface design, web standards, CSS, DOM scripting, and accessibility.

The multi-track, two day conference schedule is further built upon to provide plenty of valuable networking time and evening activities.

this year will probably attract much larger numbers than the last one, so book early to avoid disappointment Wink

Reply with quote oh, incidentally: i love this shot of @media 2005 where andy saxton and i cheekily (although i have to admit i wasn't aware of this faux pas at the time) snuck onto the "speaker's row" right at the front for bowman's presentation. http://www.vivabit.com/atmedia2006/lastyear/?photo=51#photo

Reply with quote All these posts about the event from you. People might think you have some sort of stake :?

How many people around these parts will be visiting the event this year (ticket permitting obviously - yes I'm talking about you d.Construct)?

If anyone has a site I've missed let me know and I'll add it to the feed agregator contraption I've put together to keep a track on such things - http://www.morethanseven.net/atmedia2006

Oh and any suggestions from the old accessibility standpoint would be more than welcome - haste is likely to be the bringer of bad things which I'll fix as time permits.
Reply with quote I really enjoyed this last year. It was great meeting so many names from this forum and it looks like this year will have some more advanced topics covered.

Reply with quote So, who are the potential candidates we could teach some useful English phrases?
Reply with quote In that picture it looked like everyone was falling to sleep and propping up their heads with their arms.

WVYFC chose the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as the main charity to fund raise for in 2006
Reply with quote If memory serves Dougs presentation was at 9 the morning of the second day. Bearing in mind the 'networking' of the previous night it's suprising that people where even there at that time. Awake was a bonus.

And now their is talk of a before show do on the 14th! Ye gads.

For me that was the one thing missing last year. It took a while for those of us who are naturally shy geeks to get going on the first day, a well-lubricated icebreaker would have improved matters. Very Happy

LOL, I was going to ask where everyone is planning on staying, but with your track record I'd probably end up in some homeless shelter while you lapped it up in the Hilton. Wink

Still, I'd have the satisfaction of misdirecting Gareth to an equally seedy part of town...
Reply with quote No with his track record you'll end up on the bathroom floor: Hotel Redux is open for business. Wink

At least I think most of us have met each other at least once before but it might be a good idea to have another meet up in May sometime?

Alex
Reply with quote I'm planning on going again. I just hope there hasn't been a mass registration as I may not get approval til early next week!
Reply with quote We're hoping to get the go-ahead for one or more of us to go too. Ideally we'd all want to be there, but with four consultants in the team, that's quite a lot to shell out.

And I think I've only met one or two of you - many of you I haven't met before. Was looking at the possibility of getting to the Newcastle meet, but I doubt I'm going to be able to. Will likely have to wait until you all come to London I'm afraid. Sad

Registration costs £395 + VAT per delegate, which can be paid online by credit card or, alternatively, you can choose to be invoiced for the amount.
I guess that's to keep plebians like me out. Sad
