Free program similar to Dreamweaver's code view mode?

Reply with quote I use Dreamweaver 8 when I'm at work (web programming intern) and love it, but I can't afford to buy a copy for myself. Are there any free (or at least cheap) programs that are similar? I code everything by hand, so I don't care about the WYSIWYG features, but having attribute lists pop up every time I type a tag, having tags close automatically every time I type "</", etc. is so useful. (Not to mention how useful templates are.)

So, are there any good free Dreamweaver clones?
Reply with quote I use Selida 2 which has very useful tools like a built in error checker, search, element listing, and it's free to download Very Happy

Reply with quote HTML Kit, been using it for 4 years. However, there are no accessibility plugins as yet.
Reply with quote Cool, I'll check them out. Thanks, everyone. Smile

Reply with quote I'm with you, i love DW for its code view. I've looked around for a while for something that compares, havn't really found anything.

From memory, Nvu is mainly a wysiwyg and not so great for coders..

for OSX, WebDesign

29.95 US i think? Has some cool DW-esque auto things

PSPad for Windows is free, and it completes tags. It's also got a Reformat HTML function that i like more than DW's. Doesnt colour the code as nicely though. In the end its just a text editor, but handy.

TopStyle Lite is great for CSS. http://topstyle.en.softonic.com/ie/14884
Reply with quote I use jEdit, it's cross platform, written in Java and has a lot of plugins but no WYSIWYG.
