You’ll work in the Future Media &Technology team that is embedded within BBC Audio & Music Interactive. Working across websites and emerging platforms, and in more than one interactive area or genre, you’ll write code using XHTML, Javascript, Ajax, XSLT/XML or other client side technology to create websites, templates and other interactive elements. You’ll also advise senior developers on the resources and timescales required by projects.
The essential skills needed for the role are XHTML, CSS, XSLT/XML, JavaScript, XSSI, Javascript frameworks i.e Prototype, Script.aculo.us, JQuery, W3C standards, accessibility, usability and semantic mark-up. Experience with server side technologies including PHP, Java, Perl and web application frameworks such as Ruby on Rails is highly desirable.
BBC Audio & Music Interactive is an established department responsible for digital radio, digital text, and over 30 websites and other related platforms including: Radios 1,2,3,4, Five Live, 6music, 1Xtra, Asian Network, BBC7, and the bbc.co.uk/music sites.
