Accessify Forum Demos

Reply with quote I made some changes to the post background colours on my demo.

Reply with quote Nigel,

I quite like the alternating colours. Just one thing though, I found the forum logo in the background difficult to distinguish. I realise it's supposed to fade out from left to right, but I even found the extreme left one difficult to view. Maybe I should change my glasses? Smile

Yer it's just supposed to be a subtle touch that's either noticed or not, I don't want to distract from the posts.

I removed the report links from the demo.

Reply with quote OK. That makes sense.
Reply with quote I changed my demo to use % sizes for the columns.

Perhaps the backgrounds on the posts are too fussy and should go completely? Maybe black on white would be best? I'm just trying to give it a friendly feel.

I removed unnecessary titles.

I think a title of "reply to this post with quote" on "Quote" links is useful, it's not self explanatory to everyone, only those who know forums, I think this helps users who are not. It provides extra information about the link, as it should.

Reply with quote Wouldn't black on white be a bit stark, unfriendly and unwelcoming? I think the background colours on the demo are OK...still not sure about the logos though.

As you say, they may intrude on the user's interaction.
Reply with quote I definitely like the colours and the fade. How about just having one instance of the logo, maybe a bit smaller so that it doesn't actually underlap the comment itself?

Good idea, I changed it to be like that, still not sure though. Looks a bit odd blocked by the username and date, maybe one bigger one, but faded? Or maybe it's fine as it is?

Reply with quote Hey, I quite like that! It does look a bit odd under the username, but you already know from the forum index who the last poster was - does it matter?

Keep going Nigel! Smile
Reply with quote The faded logo has turned out nice. Good job, Nigel! Would a slightly stronger background colour be OK for contrast? The colours start out vibrant but end up a bit chalky, imho.

If you use title text, remember to start it with a capital letter!

I would prefer the name and date links to use the same colours as other text links in the design. More consistent. At the moment, looks a bit like those sites which wrap everything in <abbr title> and put data inside the title.

You were thinking of replacing the <hr> between message and signature with something else? Applying border-top to each <div class="signature"> would be fine by me.

I agree, I increased it slightly, maybe it needs a little more?

Done. I also changed it to "Reply, quoting this post" as I think that makes its function more clear than the previous "reply to this post with quote".

They dominated a bit too much like that, I'm trying to keep the focus off them, and on the content of the posts. I like the current style.

Done.
