False Conformance Claims
Hi all,
If you came across a site that was falsely claiming, say, WCAG 1.0 Double AA conformance, what would you do about it?
Would you leave the matter alone?
Would you inform the site owners?
Any other approach?
Cheers for your thoughts!

This is similar to the discussion about advising site owners about their accessibility problems. I guess the same applies to conformance claim issues, and you could point out that a false claim could damage the site's reputation. I personally don't bother pointing it out unless I'm doing an audit on the site anyway, though.

There's also a good quote given via a comment on the poll on reporting accessibility issues, as mentioned in the previous discussion:

| In the end, I think people that are trying to do something are way better than the vast majority of website owners, many of whom know about accessibility but dismiss it as too expensive. So any criticism should be framed to acknowledge this so as to not alienate and thus set the issue back that much further. |
