Hidden content and search engines
I would like to display "Read more" to sighted users reading an article.
And, for the benefit of assitive technology users, include "about Article Name" in the link - but hide it using the class=offscreen method.
Does anyone know whether Google will index the article name or penalize me for hiding the words?
I realise it wouldn't do sighted users any harm to see the words but just showing "read more" on each article would be my preference in this instance.
There's a lot of conflicting advice out there and I'm not sure what the current understanding is.

I wouldn't expect it to cause any problems. There was an interesting article and discussion over at 456 Berea St - is hiding text with CSS to improve accessibility bad for SEO?

Many thanks James. I'll have a read.
It seems that there is not clear rule to that. But why would you want to hide text anyway?
Forgive my ignorance. ('
