Website monitoring...

Reply with quote Hi all

We're planning to launch quite a big eCommerce site over the next 3 months. Part of the solution requires us to have ongoing web monitoring. We're thinking of hosting with Rackspace who will include a URL monitor in their quote, but I want to know if anyone here has used other companies in the past (eg. Axzona, SiteConfidence).

If so, what were the general costs per month?

Thx
Reply with quote Moved to "web technology" as nothing to do with accessibility.

Reply with quote What are you hoping to monitor, exactly?

AWstats is what I use for my personal sites, as it provides the basic stats to make general decisions.

Google Analytics is the Swiss Army knife of viewing traffic stats for your website. You can go to extraordinary detail and filter the results in extremely sophisticated ways. Has a big learning curve and getting the most from it is really a full-time job.
Reply with quote If you want an easy tool you can use www. downnotifier. com. It's very nice and easy.
Reply with quote Hi,

There are several companies offering these services, moreover there are certain software providing these features.

I have used services "free web monitoring" named website. And i like their reporting they report you instantly via mail whenever your site is down. and keep track until it is recovered.
Reply with quote I know people that use rackspace and it has the notification functions that can be added for a cost. But, now that jandebruin has showed us the amazing downnotifier.com, I am paying no more. Thanks Jandebruin!!
Reply with quote As someone said in an earlier post it depends what you mean by monitoring. In terms of monitoring traffic (visitors, geographic location, sources etc) then you can't beat Google Analytics & Google Webmaster Tools.

If you're looking website monitoring - i.e. a service which alerts you to performance issues or downtime on your website, then there are plenty out there including our own StatusCake.com, as well as products by Pingdom and CopperEgg.

Being aware of downtime is important not only if your website is used to collect money, but in terms of maintaining a good reputation.

Happy to answer any questions you have.
Reply with quote Your question has too many verticals, What exactly you want to track or monitor is not much clear! If you want to track about your visitor then you may use Google Analytics, AWSTATS etc, want to monitor url, crawl errors then may use different free as well paid tools like - webmaster, Xenu, want to track social media ...... what exactly you want?
