I need help.
Hello everyone,
My name is Marie, and I am currently an undergraduate at the National University of Singapore (NUS), doing a dissertation on fire evacuation plan for wheelchair users. I need help in understanding some of the difficulties faced when navigating around, and also would like to understand the possibility of independent evacuation of a building during a fire emergency.
Please, if you have anything to comment on this topic, feel free to contact me. My email is mosc_29@hotmail.com
Looking forward to replies. Thank you.

Marie,
Stairs, crowds and the exclusion of simple to navigate hallways and walkways. This was much more of an issue when I was in school, but it still remains an issue in any building. Eventually, my school was granted refuge areas which seemed phenomenal in theory, but during an actual evacuation they become pointless. The chaos muffles out the ability to hear and talk over the emergency phone effectively. These are the most difficult issues I remember dealing with while in school, but I have yet to be in a public building when an actual fire or emergency was necessary.
