Webinar systems
Hi
We’re looking at webinar systems. Any advice on finding a accessible one? The ones we’ve had a demo of was Flash based and I'm awaiting details of its accessibility.
(I asked this on the end of an existing thread in the Coffee Break forum but got no responses)

Hi James,
Sorry, I don't know of any myself. I'm putting out a request on Twitter for you.

Hi James,
I am the owner of a web conferencing service, which runs completely
on Java. Several years ago, I hosted a series of webinars that at least
one blind person attended.
I am not entirely sure which screen reader program this person was
using. Because I am not blind myself, I hadn't even given much thought
to how a blind person would use the Internet, nor did I even know it was
possible. Unfortunately, I have since lost contact with that person.
I recently worked with an organization on a series of webinars that had
to have captioning for hearing impaired attendees. And with a bit of
creativity, we were able to accomplish this successfully.
Long story sort, in the past few months, we have begun to do a lot of
research around the subject of webinar accessibility for handicapped
users in the hope that we can work toward providing accessibility for
all users.
Your post doesn't indicate to me whether or not you are blind. But
obviously, I could use the help of someone who is for testing purposes.
Or at the very least, someone like yourself who seems to have an
interest. Hence, the reason I ended up here on this forum.
I am not sure about the rules regarding whether or not I can post a
link here, and I do not wish to break any rules. But if you wish to email
me directly, perhaps we can exchange contact information and I can
give you a call. Or better yet, we can log into one of my online meeting
rooms so you can check it out.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Tim and welcome to the Forum!
You may not know, but your signature won't show until you've made a minimum of 10 posts. Because of this, the link to your site isn't visible to members yet.
Normally, your post would've been moved to Commercial Events & Services.
However, after reading your post thoroughly and visiting your site, I'm convinced that this is a genuine post with genuine intent.
Because of this, I'm going to edit your post so that your link appears in the body message.
HTH.
Cheers!

Thank you for the information, Gary.
As I said, I do not want to break any rules!

Hi Tim
Thanks for your reply.
I am visually impaired but not blind and I don't use assistive technologies such as a screen reader. So I wouldn't make a great tester for you. Perhaps some of the people on this forum who do could have a look at your demo and report back on it? I did see that I could tab around the video controls at least
Otherwise my suggestion is that you recruit a suitable tester(s) and get an experienced agency to conduct an accessibility audit.
I would be interested in knowing the results.

Hi James,
I am assuming that you went to my main site and took a look around.
I realize that my main site would fail an accessibility audit miserably
at this point.
Is there an agency you would recommend for such an audit? Per my
previous post, as you can probably tell, I have a lot to learn.
Having said that, our web conference entry pages, as well as the
client itself is much cleaner (for lack of a better term)... no images,
clear text instructions etc.
In short, the actual login page and login process is what I am suggesting
you take a look at. But again, I do not want to break the forum rules
by placing a link to one of my login pages here on this post.
Gary has informed me that if I place a link in my signature tag, it will
appear after 10 posts. But I also don't want to write 10 ridiculous posts
just to make that happen either... LOL!
Not sure if there is a way to send a private message here or not. If
there is, I could send a link that way... that is, if you are interested.
Or if you'd like, you can reach me at one of the email addresses found
on the contact page of the website Gary has graciously allowed in my
previous post.
I hope this all makes sense!

Tim,
It's already been established that you're genuine and having an on-topic conversation. Post a link by all means!
BTW, you can send/receive PMs by following the 'You have no new messages' link, top-right corner of every page. Not very intuitive now that I've looked at it again.

Hi Gary...
Here is a link to a page that anyone can use to log into one of my
conference rooms...
http://demo.inetcommunicator.net/?p=0
As you can see, there is no password required. Just enter your
name and hit your enter key to login if you want to check it out.
I am located in Portland, Oregon, which is on the US Pacific time
zone. You guys are 8 hours ahead of me. But if either of you
would like to set up a day and time to meet, I would love to
speak with you.
Thanks!
Tim

Looking for a webinar app where screen reader users can host. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
