Reply with quote i have the same question!!!lol.if anyone can help
Reply with quote I use PDFCreator http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/. It installs as a printer for creating PDFs. After you select it as the printer for a document (even an existing PDF) and say ok, the PDF dialg pops up. Click on the "Options" box. Choose PDF from the list of formats and then the Security tab.Check the password options you want, then Save. At the PDF dialog, when you save the document, you will be prompted to enter the password. Remember to reset the security setting when you don't want passwords on a PDF. Good luck.
Reply with quote Adobe Acrobat Writer can also create passwords. but it's expensive. The question is whether the password protection is equally effective if you use PDFCreator.
Reply with quote If you have a Mac, you can use PDFKit, apparently. I have never personally used it before though.

Reply with quote Those who have the free Open Office word processing application should also be able to password protect any document they print as a PDF.

Reply with quote I have Nitro PDF linked to my MS Word. Can it create a password for PDF too?
Reply with quote I am using Adobe Professional and I think the password protection is effective.

I haven't seen PDFCreator yet but Adobe's interface is easy to use. Try to use the help menu in creating password for PDF.
Reply with quote Instructions

1
Download or purchase a copy of Adobe Acrobat. You will need this software to password-protect your PDF files.

2
Open the PDF file you would like to password-protect in Adobe Acrobat.

3
Click on "Advanced options" and then choose "Security." This allows you to choose from among several security settings. Choose "Password Encrypt." A notice will ask you if you are sure you want to password protect your file, click "Yes."

4
Click the checkbox that says "Require a password to open the document." Once this is clicked, you will be able to create a password. Type a password that you will be able to remember into the form box. When you have completed this step, click "OK."

5
Retype your password. A prompt will ask you to confirm your password. Type your password, exactly how you typed it the first time, into the form box and click "OK." You have successfully password-protected your PDF file. Anyone who wants to open the PDF file must have access to Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download a free version from www.adobe.com.
