Tab issues with Flash

Reply with quote Hello again folks,

I'm still working on that Flash web-conferencing application, and it's time to deal with the elephants in the room. When the application starts up, but before the user can do anything, the Adobe Flash Settings box appears and they need to either allow or deny access to their webcam and microphone in order to continue. Unfortunately, the box does not cooperate with the tab order, and thus a blind or keyboard-dependent user can't proceed to the application. The only mention of this problem I've found online was an Adobe bug report from 2010; has anyone else encountered this?

Reply with quote Is it possible to create a screen before the main one that prompts the user to accept the permissions (like a splash screen)? That way you could remove it from your current page so your tab order is correct on your main page. Doing it this way would also stop users seeing the main page without accepting the permissions first.
