Reply with quote I am saddened to have to inform you of the passing, last night, of Jack Pickard (confirmed by his wife, on Facebook).

Many of you, like me, knew Jack as a friend, as well as accessibility advocate and expert.

I know that I will miss him; and never forget him.

Reply with quote I was only informed of this terrible news an hour or so ago.

I am deeply shocked and saddened.

My heart and deepest condolences go out to his wife, children, mam and the rest of his family - physical and extended.

Reply with quote Terribly sad news. I regret that I never had the chance to meet Jack in person but his decency, sincerity and veracity were clear for all to see, not least in his invaluable contribution to the world of web accessibility. He will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace mate.

Reply with quote So it's official. Jack never did say anything I could fully disagree with. In this place I'd have thought that impossible. To me, he was a fine fella, who who I simply couldn't fault. Well read, but more importantly, considered. And such a great sense of humour!

You will most definitely be missed by a great many folk Jack.

RIP, I'm sure you will.

Condolences to those you leave behind.

Good bye, Jack. Thanks for the laughs and chats, both here and when we met at @media. It's a real shame I didn't get to meet you again. Rest in peace, mate.

I can honestly say that he helped me succeed on the path to web and accessibility standards. Truly a very decent guy.

Reply with quote I'm stunned! We didn't always agree on things but we always had a darn good laugh about it.

My sympathies go out to his wife and little ones.

Reply with quote Jack was is undoubtedly one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic people in Accessibility who would happily engage and share his knowledge with everyone. I have never met him in person but I will certainly miss him, his twitter posts and world class blog.

Reply with quote Thank you Jack for being such a thoroughly nice guy on the Web, thoughtful (as has been mentioned by many above) and always encouraging and full of ideas. An absolute pleasure to banter with.

What a dreadful shocking loss. My heart goes out to his family at this difficult time.

Reply with quote There is more about Jack's passing on Ian Cuddy's Blog. I am in the process of arranging for some flowers and a card from us at the forum, and am also trying to get hold of funeral details for anyone who would like to attend. Please let me know privately if you would like me to pass these on to you.

I thought it would be nice, for his family, to print the comments on this thread and send them along with the card.

Reply with quote Good idea Nigel.

Also, Jack's mam has posted a comment on Jack's last blog post.

People are beginning to respond to her comment as word circulates. As many people as possible are being urged to leave their own comments there.

It would be a fitting testament to him if his family could get some idea of just how many people were touched by Jack.
