content of a website
Is is really important to have content in every page for proper SEO of a website?? Can the product page contain only the details about the products eg. - cost, size, color etc. Please make me clear about it....
Sorry,
This Forum is predominantly for the discussion of accessibility. There are many SEO help forums out there. Try Googling for 'SEO help'...

This is a place where you can discuss anything and everything.....so, why not SEO? This is a separate section in the forum for general discussions....
That's true, but you're unlikely to get much response since people who come here are mainly interested in accessibility.
You'll get a much more useful response to your question from an SEO forum as Gary suggests. You're pretty much wasting your time asking about SEO here (as can be seen by the lack of responses).

Hi websys.
Regarding the discussion of SEO...
Anyone looking down the list of topics available on Accessify Forum's home page will quickly realise how many times the words 'accessibility' and 'accessible' are mentioned.
We truly are concerned with accessibility issues; mainly issues to do with the web, but we also encourage discussions on accessibility off the web.
As a web developer yourself, you will be very familiar with the amount of garbage out there masquerading as 'sure-fire SEO'.
We are constantly bombarded with SEO spam and have had to make a stand against discussing it in the Forum.
However, it is my belief - and that of a good many of our members - that websites designed with accessibility, usability and standards in mind, will achieve 'natural' or 'organic' SEO of their own accord.
I'm not sure of Admin's stance in the area of organic SEO, but maybe a simple request to him would elicit a response... he doesn't (usually) bite!
I'll drop him a PM and ask what his views are.
Thanks for the comment!

Websys, on a product page those details are the relevant content. You could include customer reviews, too. Some products would lend themselves to longer descriptions, such as music and books.
But if you're selling spades, for example, then there's not a great deal you need to include on an individual product page!
It's also worth checking Lies, Damn Lies & Seo. It gives one example of a site which avoids nearly all the hallmarks of orthodox and unethical SEO in favour of sound usability, IA, accessibility, efficiency and web standards compliance.

Nothing wrong with a bit of SEO in my opinion, besides Google is pretty good at picking out spammy websites which is why we all use Google anyway!

That depends on what you are optimizing the page for. If it's a page that you're not selling anything on but which contributes to the overall theme of the website, then you may want to consider keeping the visitor on your site by offering him some information that will benefit him enough to want to explore the site further, thus taking him to a sales page. I mean, it's totally up to you how you wish to design your website. If you're smart, you will take these thoughts into consideration.

Once again, it depends on what you are optimizing the page for. If it is a product page, you would do well to optimize it for buyer keywords. That is, unless you don't care about getting sales.
Well, its always better some useful even if its minimal content to interest the buyer who is interested in details of a product. So, you can consider adding some textual data to support the pics.
Every page should contain keyword content, including your product pages. If your site is well defined, your product description will include the keywords necessary for SEO.

I totally agree Brent00. I used to do SEO before, and most people focus so heavily on making backlinks and crap and totally ignore what their own site looks like and how easy it is to navigate and function. No point having thousands of visitors if your bounce rate is sky high.
You are really trying to serve two masters. Google and your customer. You want to use your keywords but don't use them or write content just for the sake of getting SEO for your site. If you are providing your customers with high-quality relevant content then the traffic will come and the "organic" SEO will happen.

Yes, from SEO point of view, your web page should contain atleast 100 words. However, your product description is also enough.
Always use alt tag for every image.
use png image instead of jpeg image
keep image short.
Don't use image height or width elements to reduce the size.
Don't post too much image on a single web page. or it will take a too long time to load. Your visitor won't like it.
Align your image proper.

I totally agree with what he says bylor, but that's not enough to have a good SEO campaign, besides that of many other important things to do. Do not be mean to him boys. He is having a problem which had hoped to find an answer through this forum in the discussion free section .
Try to use more text than images... search engines can't read images.
