Reply with quote The official definition from the creator, Larry Wall, in 1987 is "Practicqal Extraction and Report Language", but I like this definition "Pathologically Eclectic Rubbish Lister". It is not at all like c or C++, much easier to learn. However, it does have object syntax tacked onto it now, but I never coded that. I used it for extracting data from files and building other files. I learned it by reading Randal L Schwartz's book, Learning Perl, which is now in its sixth edition.
