Architecture dissertation paper - help!

Reply with quote Hey everyone,

I'm currently a final year student, studying architectural technology. I have to write a rather large dissertation paper on a topic of my choice. I have chosen to investigate the suitability of new buildings for ease of access and circulation by individuals who are partially sighted or blind.

In 2006 a regulation was introduced that stated door frames and walls should be of contrasting colours so that partially sighted persons can easily identify the door. On this basis, I was hoping to uncover any (if any) issues that people may face when navigating through buildings that have yet to be addressed by building law.

Please excuse me if I come across ignorant in any way. But can I ask, is there any aspect of buildings or anything at all that is particularly irritating or awkward to blind people? Have you got any suggestions on how to improve public buildings? Braille signs have been introduced, any other ideas? Could anything be improved to make navigation of larger buildings like hospitals easier?

I would be so grateful of any information you could give me. Sorry for the whole essay!

And thanks in advance, Jason.
