Reply with quote Hi there,

My name is Jon Clague, i am a student at the University of Liverpool and in the middle of doing my dissertation! My idea is to investigate what wheelchair users find difficult or easy when moving around in a town or city (an urban area). Also what sort of technology has helped?
If you would be interested in helping me by answering a questionnaire and maybe telling me a little bit more about yourself i would be most greatful.
feel free to email me or message me back ( iam new to this site so not sure how it all works).

Thanks,

Jon

Reply with quote I'm well aware that this is an older post, but I really, really wanted to contribute to this conversation. I found this thread via Google search (looking for other wheelchair users) and really wanted to gain the insight of others who experienced many of the same aggravations.

I wasn't always a wheel-chair user. About 2 years ago, I got into a really bad car wreck which rendered me paralyzed from the waist down. I'm not sure if you're still conducting this survey, but I would love to tell you about my own experiences and answer any sort of questions you (or anyone else) may have.
I guess to get the ball rolling, I'd like to mention that riding the Subway (I live in NYC) is probably the most irritating thing in the world if you're physically disabled. Sure, they have access-a-ride vehicles, but I'm trying to be "normal" . . .which isn't always possible. Barely anything is wheelchair accessible [link removed by admin] Many subway stations don't have wheelchair ramps, elevators or anything of the sort. Frustrating? You bet it is.

Anyway, I'm going on and on and on now. Sorry for the rambling. Hope to talk to you guys soon! =)
Reply with quote Great! I am looking the same thing. We run a local NGO here, trying to persuade local authorities as well as general people to facilitate the physically challenged people with every possible way. Countries like Nigeria has no enough resources for such people for example we are shipping Power Wheelchairs, Motorized Wheelchairs, Electric Wheelchairs, Lightweight Wheelchairs [links removed by admin] and other wheel chairs to that country. I am fully support your cause and would love to contribue in every possible way
