Reply with quote hey I've seen this book advertised, See It Right, a publication on accessibility from the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind).

Does anyone know if its any good from a web design/developers point of view?

It had a good rating in .net magazine, but is mainly for printed materials.
I dont really wanna splash out 30 quid for something with only a tiny section on web stuff.

Cheers!
Reply with quote I'd be interested on hearing people's thoughts too - has anyone got hold of a copy?
Reply with quote I can't honestly say as I haven't seen it, but I do hold the RNIB web access team in high regard. If they've been involved, I'm sure it will be well-written and accurate. It's difficult to say what level of benefit you'd get, 'cos I don't know where the book is pitched...

Have a look at the RNIB Web Access Centre Blog and round their other information to see what you think of the RNIB's other advice to help you weigh it up.

Even contact them if you like. I'm sure that while they won't be willing to read the book out to you, they'll be able to tell you how - and who - it's pitched at.

It might be worth noting however that the book (perhaps unsurprisingly for the RNIB) has a focus on sight-related issues: that's not the be-all and end-all of accessibility - but on the other hand it's the area the RNIB are experts in!

Reply with quote I've got a copy of the book. For web developers it does not contain anything that cannot be found on their web site but it will help you in your job. It is easy to read and persuasive. That makes it great for handing to your clients/managers/decision makers to help them understand what you do and why it is important.

£30 might be a lot for a wire bound book but think of it as a donation to a very worthy cause and a thank you to one of the best accessibility development teams in UK.
